My Horror Movie Watch List for 2016

Yesterday I shared the horror novels that made my reading list for 2016. Today I thought I’d share some of the horror movies that I plan to watch as well.

Many of these are films I’ve been wanting to watch for the first time, though some are favorites I watch repeatedly.

• Let the Right One In — a favorite I try to watch at least once per year
• The Orphanage — another favorite I can’t get enough of
• Crimson Peak — disappointed I didn’t make it to the theater to see this last year, but it comes out on Blu-ray on my birthday, so happy friggin’ birthday to me!

• The Cabin in the Woods
• Drag Me to Hell
• Carrie (2013)
• Mama
• Halloween (a yearly must-watch)
• Trick ‘r Treat (another one I have to hit at least once a year)
• A Tale of Two Sisters (another favorite; better than the English remake, The Uninvited, though that’s not bad either)
• Orphan (this one has been sitting on my shelf for ages)
• Audition
• The Phantom of the Opera (1925)
• Gremlins (just because I haven’t seen it since I was a kid)
• Beetlejuice (for the same reason as Gremlins)
• Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark
• House on Haunted Hill (I must watch this a half dozen times each year.)
• Some of the Abbott and Costello movies (Frankenstein, Mummy, Time of Their Lives, etc. are all ones I enjoy)
• The Woman in Black (1989) — I enjoyed the recent version of this, so I’d like the see this one as well.

I’m sure I’ll watch far more movies than this, so feel free to suggest your favorites. I have a tendency to binge-watch, so bonus points if you recommend a good series for one of my many long sleepless nights. Anything I watch that wasn’t on the original list will get tacked onto the end, and if I come across others I’d like to see I’ll add those as I go along. (As of April, I’ve added quite a few I’d like to see after joining Shudder, which is becoming an awesome little addiction.)
